The Hoover Dam was built in the early 1900’s with power, regulation, water storage, and flood control purposes in mind. It cost around $49 million dollars at the time to create, which would be much more in the present day. Without it, there would be many flood issues and many people and businesses would lose their buildings. What would happen if there was an emergency and it just stopped working?
Let’s say that there is an immediate need for repair and there is no one available from the maintenance team. You eagerly accept the challenge without hesitation.
Climb your way up to the top of the dam to find out what the problem is. Of course, it won’t be that simple though. Conditions will be slippery and the weather might not cooperate. Sunshine would be prime, but you never know when the skies will open up and make your journey less favorable.
Time is of the essence. The quicker you are able to reach the top, the sooner the residents and businesses below can stop worrying about all of the things that they could possibly lose. Their faith is in your hands. You try to get up there as fast as you can, but you slip a few times and have to start over. It isn’t as easy as you originally thought it would be.
You finally reach the top and figure out the problem. But, you forgot your tools! There is no way for your to fix the opening that has made its unfortunate appearance. So, what do you do?
Slide down! The slide will be steep and very fast paced. Close your eyes and let go! It will be over before you know it, and your feet will be on the solid ground once more.
The second trek up will be even harder, as you are already soaked from your first adventure. But as you said, you are up for the challenge and will get the job done! Even though it will take additional time and muscle to get your body to the top, you will make it! Keep the people below safe and slide right back down!
